The Different Modalities of Massage

Cranial Sacral Therapy

A fully clothed modality, cranial sacral is the use of gentle, non-intrusive techniques to “reset” the cranial rhythm of the head, spinal column, sacrum and underlying structures.

Benefits: Relief of chronic pain, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, emotional trauma, auditory problems, stress-related dysfunctions, arthritis, colic, inner ear problems, pinching of the optic nerve, herniated disks, asthma, learning and behavioral disorders in children.

Reflexology

Reflexology manipulates the reflex areas of the feet and hands that correspond to specific areas of the body and organs.

Benefits: Relaxation, flush toxins, increase circulation, improve nerve supply, increased immune system, increased energy, non-invasive, efficient and simple.

Swedish

Per Henrik Ling developed a series of massage strokes that focus blood and lymph flow toward the heart. His techniques came to be known as Swedish massage. Swedish is a very soothing and relaxing modality that promotes healthy circulation and proper lymphatic drainage.

Russian Sports

Beginning with Per Henrik Ling, Swedish was brought to Russia as a medical practice. Techniques were developed to include effleurage, wringing, petrissage, friction, vibration, percussion and passive movement. Now massage is an integral part of standard medical training in Russia.

Benefits: Circulation, blood and lymph flow, regulate heart and respiration rate, overall metabolism, increase range of motion, improves healing, decreases muscle fatigue, muscle tension, swelling and chronic pain.

Deep Tissue

Focuses on lymphatic drainage and re-aligning muscle fiber orientation of the different muscle groups. It combines Swedish and Trigger Point Therapy for a very potent therapy that helps to relieve stress and tension as well as promote relaxation and increased range of motion.

Trigger Point Therapy

Active trigger points exacerbate several syndromes as well as joint, muscle and organ pain. Releasing the tension and toxins built up in the trigger points provide increased range of motion, pain relief and relief of symptoms from Fibromyalgia, Fibrositis, Carpal Tunnel, Piriformis Syndrome and headaches.

Seated Chair Massage

Fully clothed modality that offers massage on either a specific area or a full body massage.

Benefits: Increases focus, flexibility, circulation, enhances self-esteem, relieves tired, sore, aching muscles, no oils or lotions necessary, less time is needed to complete a chair massage session: (15+ minutes)
